One day, by pure chance, I came across Odin, a severely scabies-infested dog lying motionless on the street. His fur was jagged, and his skin was red and painful to the touch. Nobody knew how long he had been there. When I saw him, my heart broke for him. I sat with him, offering comfort and soothing his wounded heart. I cried a lot, feeling his pain and suffering.
As I sat with Odin, I realized that each of us has the power to change our own and others’ lives, especially those of poor animals in need. We should not hesitate to help animals who want to live. Anyone can be part of a happy ending rescue story. So, I brought Odin home with me, even though he was completely exhausted.
It was heart-wrenching to see Odin’s austere face and realize that he had been lying there for days, suffering from hunger, thirst, sun, rain, and insect bites. He weighed only 5 kg, was extremely dehydrated, malnourished, and unable to stand up. However, we believed in Odin and the possibility of a miracle that one day he would get up and walk again.
Odin’s recovery was a slow process. He was thin and weak, lacking the strength to fight, and seemed unmotivated. It was hard to understand how much pain he had gone through, lying on the ground for days with no help. But with each passing day, Odin was improving. He was bathed, fed, and given medical attention for his scabies, malnutrition, and other issues.
With many prayers, Odin survived. He began to show signs of improvement, and we knew he would eventually turn into the beautiful dog he was meant to be. Odin’s physical and mental pain was gradually healing, and he was becoming more cooperative during treatment. He loved having me by his side, cuddling and offering him comfort and security.
Despite a few setbacks, Odin remained strong and persevered. It was amazing to see how he enjoyed everything – food, cuddles, baths, long naps, and walks in the garden. He had finally met the life he was supposed to have, filled with love and care.
Today, Odin is a happy, healthy dog who loves sunbathing, walking around, and exploring his surroundings. He no longer remembers the suffering he endured on the street. His story is a testament to the power of love and the impact it can have on animals in need. Remember that each of us can make a difference, and with love and compassion, we can transform the lives of those around us.
