Instead of living in a loving home, they had to fight for their lives on the streets. These two puppies were found in appalling condition. The most shocking thing was their unnaturally bloated bellies, which became gigantic and looked like balloons. No one knew whether these dogs could be saved at all…
Two puppies with huge bellies
Two puppies with giant bellies were found on the street. When found, the dogs were practically unconscious and their bodies had serious injuries. Looking at their condition, it was suspected that they might have been victims of some terrible animal experiments. At first, no one knew whether they could be saved at all.
The puppies were taken to a veterinary clinic, where they received urgent medical care. It turned out that both dogs were seriously underweight and had low levels of albumin, which are proteins found, among other things, in blood plasma. When levels are too low, fluids can accumulate in the abdomen, causing swelling.
Ticks, parasites, anemia
However, being underweight and too low albumin levels were not the only problems of these babies. On site, the vet also discovered that the puppies had a lot of ticks and parasites. They also suffered from anemia. The dogs needed long treatment, including blood transfusions, to fully recover.
Difficult surgery
A very important step was to remove the residual fluid from the bloated bellies, but this could only be done during a difficult surgery. The puppies were prepared for the procedure and then put under anesthesia. During the surgery, one of the veterinary technicians held the dogs by their paws to give them support. Fortunately, the procedure to remove the fluid was successful.
They felt better and better every day
These puppies were so brave all the time! As the days passed and numerous blood transfusions took place, the dogs began to have more and more energy. Soon they were eating normally and playing again!
When the dogs’ health condition improved, they were moved to a foster home. Soon the vet confirmed that they were ready for adoption!
It was amazing how much courage these two little puppies had. We are so happy that they are now healthy and that they will never suffer again. You can watch their entire adventure in the video below. We love happy endings!
