The Humane Society of Hawkins County recently had to rescue Pumpkin, a pregnant mother dog rescued from a life of begging, after she became trapped under a shed. The dog with a growing pregnant belly managed to sneak under the narrow opening of the storage kennel and was caught when the rescue crew wasn’t watching.

“I opened the back door and called for her and her head popped out from underneath!” employee Kennedy Margitjak of the shelter told The Dodo. “She didn’t even come for dessert, so I knew something was wrong!” She is struggling to get out of the pregnancy state but is unable to do so as I wander under the shed.

Because Pumpkin was too pregnant to undergo the procedure, the crew initially tried to help her with a light drip. Next, they go to Joey Arnold, the shelter’s handyman, who successfully frees Pumpkin with Jack’s help. She was really grateful that the dog was not harmed.

In order to provide a safe place for Pumpkin to give birth to her puppies, the shelter is currently looking for loving foster parents. At least she’s in capable hands with her little ones.
