A dog in ghastly condition and on his last legs showed up on the doorstep of a man in Brownsville, Texas asking for help. Thankfully, he picked the right home. As soon as Dan Van Coppenolle noticed the dog he immediately posted a picture to Facebook on November 7, 2015 asking animal lovers for help. “Help! This dog showed up at our home near Rio Del Sol area this morning,” Dan wrote. “He has a collar with no tags and is in bad shape. Very weak and hungry.”

The dog clearly had advanced and severe mange and was starving. Soon, Dan’s post was spreading among animal rescuers in the area and after some f ast and furious networking Dan had good news to share, the dog found a rescuer.

“Thank you all for your compassion,” Dan wrote in a subsequent post. “A kind woman who fosters unhealthy dogs just came to pick up this beautiful dog. You could tell that he was tiger-striped and his ears were clipped and was probably used for dog fighting. God is looking out for this beautiful dog.”

A friend of the foster caregiver posted a few photos of him after he was washed and cleaned up. He is currently in the care of an experienced rehabilitator and has gone to see a vet.

Hopefully, in a few months after he has had time to recover, this dog will be showing up at a home that will be his forever!
